Working with us

About us
Where do you work?
Thirteen towns along Highway 93 and I-90: Polson, Ronan, Charlo, Arlee, Frenchtown, Missoula, Bonner, Clinton, Lolo, Florence, Stevensville, Victor and Hamilton. If you are close to one of them, call and ask.
What hours do you work?
7 am to 7 pm, from spring thaw until the ground freezes. In winter, call or text and we will get you on the spring list.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. We are licensed in Montana and insured.
How do I get an estimate?
Call or text (406) 450-0496, or send the estimate form on this site. We come out, walk the yard and give you a clear price before any work starts.
Who will I be talking to?
One of the owners, Garrett or Eli. We are a three person crew, and the people who answer the phone are the people who do the work.

Sprinkler Installation

Sprinkler Installation page
When is the best time to install a sprinkler system in Montana?
Any time the ground is not frozen. Spring and early summer get the lawn watered for the hot months, and a fall install is ready to go the moment you start it up in spring.
Do you install drip irrigation?
Yes. Drip is the right call for beds, shrubs, trees and xeriscape. We put it on its own zone so it runs on its own schedule.
Can you put a system in an existing lawn?
Yes. We trench through the lawn, install, and backfill so the lines settle flat. The grass grows back over the trench lines.

Sprinkler Repair

Sprinkler Repair page
Do you repair systems you did not install?
Yes. We work on systems no matter who put them in.
Why is there a soggy spot in my lawn?
Usually a cracked line or a fitting that let go, often after a freeze. We dig to it and repair it.
Why will one zone not turn on?
Most often a valve, a wire or the controller. We test each one and fix the part that failed.

Startups and Blowouts

Startups and Blowouts page
When should I blow out my sprinklers in western Montana?
Before the first hard freeze, which in most of the Missoula, Mission and Bitterroot valleys falls between late September and the end of October. Earlier is safer. A few cold nights will not ruin a system; a hard freeze with water in the lines can.
What happens if I skip the blowout?
Water left in the lines and valves freezes and expands. That splits pipe, cracks fittings and breaks the backflow device, and you find out in spring when the yard floods.
When do spring startups happen?
Once the ground thaws and the hard frosts are behind us, usually April into May in our valleys. We work the list in order.

Landscaping and Xeriscaping

Landscaping and Xeriscaping page
What is xeriscaping?
Landscaping built to need little or no extra water: rock, mulch, native and drought tolerant plants, and drip irrigation instead of spray. It suits our dry summers.
Can you landscape a brand new build?
Yes. New construction is a big part of our work. We plan the grading, the sprinkler lines and the landscape together so nothing gets dug up twice.
Do you plant trees?
Yes, and we put them on drip so they get established.

Hardscaping and Pavers

Hardscaping and Pavers page
Why do some paver patios heave or sink?
Almost always the base. Too thin, not compacted, or no edge restraint, and frost moves it. We dig deep enough and compact in lifts.
Can you build a patio and fix the sprinklers around it?
Yes. We move or add heads so the lawn around the new hardscape stays green.
Do you build retaining walls?
Yes, block retaining walls and seat walls.
